As is clearly evident...post modernity, in its highest essence....a work of pure Godly magesterium.
In my opinion, I find the cup to be, in essence, a metaphor for how human kind is too afraid to take chances. What would happen if he, an everyman, took the cup? Would it be good? Or bad? The fear of the negative destroys all the potential for the great; every time he come close to taking the chance, his own fears stop him. It is a melancholy reflection on the human condition.
